Development of Soccer Kit

Based loosely on FCB 2020/2021 soccer kits. I researched common sponsors and found Nike, Rakuten, Laliga and Kappa. I decided to incorporate these in my designs.

To demonstrate my concept i have created a fantasy team. Team Miao United F.C.

There are two colour-ways to represent two of the multiple duplication possibilities. Each kit has different sponsors and shows how future fashion could allow for sponsorship of tournaments rather than seasons or teams.

Here I am demonstrating the possibility of AR sportswear in the context of field sports. I decided to choose soccer as it is one of the most watched sports in the world. Team Miao filter is able to track my body and react to my movement. It is configured to my shape, occluded and wraps around my body as I am running or kicking the ball.

Technology was only available early this year and therefore I believe it is still in its child stage. Although it claims to automatically rig your avatar + garment there are still quite a few steps needed to make this possible before being brought into Lens Studio. I speculate that in the future this will be more intuitive- and the interface set up in a way in which you are able to simply drop your garment file into Lens.

It is very obvious that it is a filter. There are glitches when I run out of proximity to the camera, sizing issues and my arms are not segmented from the body. With technological progression these issues will most likely be easily fixed in the future and allow for the garment to look more realistic.

Cloth Simulation & Realism

Clothing is not static. It moves and stretches with the body. Therefore simulating the properties of cloth will allow for AR clothing to be more realistic. Cloth simulation is achievable in Lens studio but is still developing.

Triggers for Engagement

Triggering is a fun way to create a story with AR. A kick for example could trigger an animation that stretches beyond just clothing. I have given an example where a kick allows for a text animation to pop up. However designers could utilise this as a sponsorship advertisement opportunity or perhaps the club logo could be displayed. This type of “fun” possibility could be a way to engage audiences as means of entertainment.

Why Is This the Future of Fashion?

Zero Delay.
No Attachments.

No Post- Production.

All industries benefit from this opportunity.
